A Game-Changing Partnership
The destinies of those working to feed the planet and those working to save it are inextricably linked.
It's all about demonstrating that agriculture and solar energy can live in concert rather than competition.
That’s why we launched Farmers Powering Communities, a partnership between American Farmland Trust, Edelen Renewables, Aggreko Energy Transition Solutions, and Arcadia.
Farmer First Solar
America needs clean energy as well as resilient, productive farms to sustain us all
Farmers Powering Communities is a new type of solar company putting farmers first. Our goal? Create a new model for solar energy development in America where farmers, ranchers, and landowners are the hero of the our collective story.
By partnering with FPC, you can help create a future where all communities have access to affordable renewable energy generated by America’s farmers and ranchers.
A future where clean energy and agriculture exist and thrive side-by-side.

Community-Scale Solar
We believe solar developments should add value to and benefit the communities where they are situated.
That’s why all Farmers Powering Communities projects focus on community-scale projects of 15–50 acres. No large utility-scale projects.
FPC only builds community solar projects that allow a multitude of local community members to benefit from the project.
As a landowner, hosting a community solar project on your farm or ranch can help you build a reliable income stream while providing clean, affordable energy to your community.
Our Projects
Farmers Powering Communities recognizes that solar energy generation and agriculture can coexist. As a landowner, we will work with you to ensure your needs and wishes are met as a landowner, investor, and supporter of America's agricultural economy.
-
Our projects are guided by American Farmland Trust's Smart Solar principles to keep our best land in farming while generating clean energy.
-
Over the next five years, Farmers Powering Communities will build 500MW of community solar capacity, capable of reaching 2/3 of Americans.
-
Farmers, ranchers, and landowners are the heroes of our story. Everything we do is with respect for the vital role the agricultural community plays.
Agrivoltaics 101
FPC projects allow for the integration of active farming and solar energy generation on the same plot of land—a practice known as agrivoltaics.
